About Dr Lu Daynes

Lu is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS).

Lu has worked with adults and children in both private and public mental health services including community, school, Looked After and inpatient settings. She has been hired in consultancy and lead therapeutic roles. She has brought new and innovative therapeutic practice to newly developing and established services alike. She has also lectured in psychology, counselling and psychological therapies in higher education for over 10 years.

Throughout her roles Lu has learned a variety of models and approaches to therapy; although predominantly using an Integrative approach, she is additionally qualified and experienced in therapeutic models including Humanistic, CBT, DBT, ACT, Solution-Focused, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Lu brings systematic understanding into therapeutic work, acknowledging the importance of encompassing all of the aspects of a person's life.

Lu has developed specialisms in working with individuals to achieve their goals, think about unpleasant and difficult experiences and, crucially, helping people to recognising their strengths and resilience. She recognises that no two people’s needs and personal experiences are the same and a more fluid approach to therapy is required and can be adapted as the therapeutic relationship develops as the intricacies of a person’s needs and situation are met.
