About Janet Betts
Janet is a highly qualified Chartered Physiotherapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). She graduated in 1997 and has gained extensive experience within the NHS and private sector including 11 years as a senior clinician within the Leeds Primary Care Musculoskeletal Service. Janet has a special interest in working with clients who have persistent pain and is a member of the Physiotherapy Pain Association (PPA). She has completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy through Bradford University and several post graduate courses in the field of pain. Janet is a highly experienced physiotherapy led pilates instructor and often uses pilates based exercise when helping clients with persistent pain.
As a clinician Janet understands what it means to live with persistent pain which can be distressing and debilitating. She aims to meet clients where they are at in their pain journey and offers a supportive and person-centred approach to care. Through use of current research and a biopsychosocial framework, she helps clients to understand their pain and its many influences. Using a patients’ own values, she supports them to develop the resources they need as well as the physical ability to move forward with their lives and to change how their pain is experienced. Janet recognises the importance of a holistic approach in working with pain and can sign post to other professions as needed.
