About Kate Binnington
Kate is an Occupational Therapist completing her Masters in Occupational Therapy in 2007 and is a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists. Kate worked in a specialist personality disorder team leading an occupational therapy group work programme and providing individual occupational therapy assessment and intervention. Kate utilises occupational therapy models such as the Model of Human Occupation and integrates this with a sensory modulation approach and additional occupational therapy tools and strategies. Kate uses an individual approach, which is client led and will include discussion, written worksheets and practical experience of occupational activities.
Reflection on occupational engagement is a key element of the process and this enables Kate to ensure that individual experiences and needs are central to the therapy.
Working with adults who have difficulties achieving and maintaining a sense of satisfaction with their health, well-being or quality of life due to a range of emotional and psychological difficulties.
The impact of emotional and psychological difficulties on the habits and routines of daily life is explored and the meaning and purpose of occupational choices (all the activities that make up day to day life) identified. The resulting analysis of individual preferences, values and goals leads to exploration of alternative or adjusted occupational activities.
